Wow.
This is my first time reading a book by Sparks and I have to say that I quite enjoyed it!
I did not like Clayton whatsoever! That’s how you’re supposed to feel about him though, hatred. My favorite character was Logan, followed by Zeus (the dog). Nana was a pretty fun character. She had spunk.
I don’t really have a lot to say about this one, I just really enjoyed it. When I first started reading it, I read about 20 pages in the bathtub. The second time I picked it up, I read over 250 pages in one sitting (I only set it down because I needed sleep badly!) Finally, I read the last 50 or so pages just now. The ending was suspenseful and I wasn’t quite sure which way it was going to end. I am pleased with the ending, if it had ended the other way, I’d be mad with the Author and go on a mini Nicholas Sparks strike… haha. I guess you’ll have to read it to figure out what I’m talking about with the ending.
This is the second book in this series, I also read the first one. Back in March, after I finished reading “If Walls Could Talk”, I remember not being able to wait for the next one to come out in December. Upon reading the first few pages “Dead Bolt”, I felt like I had read it before… then I realized the previous book had an excerpt of this one in it. Silly me.
It took me a little bit to remember why I had enjoyed these books to begin with. At times, the details can be exhausting if you’re not overly into house renovation details. Ha. After really getting into it though, I remembered that I quite enjoyed the characters. I find myself right now wishing the next book was out right now so I can continue on with the characters’ lives.
A review on the back of this book states that “Melanie Turner may well be one of the most exciting, smart, and funny heroines currently in any book series.” I was going to argue this, but she is an enjoyable character and has her humorous moments.
I’m fairly new to the ghostly mystery books, but I like these by Blackwell. Not too frightening, plenty of humor, and a bit of romance.
Also, she makes me want to build my own home… to go to salvage yards and find old beautiful door knobs and such. :)
Yes, I’ve read the other 17 as well.
This one was fun, I enjoyed the juicy mystery behind Stephanie’s trip to Hawaii.
I think someone who has really gotten to know the characters will find these books more enjoyable than someone just starting with one book randomly. I’ve been with the characters for 18 books, and I feel like I know what to expect, but at the same time, I’m still intrigued to hear about what’s new in their lives.
I found the bit with “Buggy” and Lula to be kind of annoying, but thankfully it didn’t last very long.
Still loving Ranger and Morelli. I wonder which one Stephanie will chose, if she ever chooses.
I’m excited about the movie coming out about the first book… interested to see how many films they’ll end up making. Interested in how the actors will fit the characters or not.
